| Pharmacist Scott Padgett gives Billy Tauzin and Ken Trogdon a tour of CommuniCare's central-fill pharmacy. |
Each year, CommuniCare answers more than 12,000 calls for assistance from the working uninsured. We serve more than 15,400 patients in every county of South Carolina, and dispense approximately $27.7 million in donated prescription drugs. While these numbers look impressive on paper, it is hard to realize the size and scope of our organization until you see our team in action.
Bill Tauzin, President and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) made this discovery on a recent tour of CommuniCare's pharmacy and administrative offices.
"As a company that is working to develop solutions to America's healthcare challenges, we believe in CommuniCare's mission and have been helping them provide medications to the state's working uninsured," says Tauzin. "After touring the facility's administrative offices and watching the process in the Central Fill pharmacy, it is obvious to me that CommuniCare can expand its reach and serve more eligible patients in South Carolina. We will continue working to help the organization attract new pharmaceutical partners for the essential work they are doing."
CommuniCare CEO Ken Trogdon says the support of partners like PhRMA is critical for meeting the increasing needs of the working unisured in South Carolina.
"CommuniCare is embarking on a growth initiative to enhance our service programs and reach more eligible patients," says Trogdon. "With PhRMA's help, we can continue to help the thousands of working uninsured patients in our state get the healthcare referrals, prescription medications and pediatric dental care they need to enjoy a higher quality of life."
