Helping health care providers
Communicare manages the paperwork so you can concentrate on
treating your patients. Most health care providers already see patients who cannot afford
care. When health care providers register patients through Communicare, they gain the
support of pharmaceuticals, and access to our referral network - at no cost
to the patient or provider. Communicare services are helping to relieve the burden of
treating working uninsured patients in South Carolina.
Benefits:
- Eliminates paperwork for each person you send to Communicare - No Patient Assistant Programs (PAP).
- Eliminates cost as an issue for medication.
- Reduces number of "failure to improve" visits to your office.
The Patient who qualifies:
- Works or receives Unemployment, Social Security Disability, or Social Security Retirement check.
- Does NOT qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.
- Has no health insurance, SilverRx Card or Veteran's health benefits.
- Falls within 200% of Federal Poverty Level Guidelines.
Helping patients
With one toll-free call, patients who are working, uninsured, do not receive
federal assistance, and meet Federal Poverty Level Guidelines can apply for our services. Once
approved, Communicare patients then use that same toll-free number as their connection to
Communicare health care providers and more than
381 prescription drugs
dispensed through our central-fill William E. Murray Pharmacy.
Our staff will refer them to a provider if they do not currently have a
physician and a volunteer physician is in their area. When medication
is prescribed from our drug list, Communicare dispenses the
prescription and sends them to a convenient pick-up location for the
patient or directly to the patient.
Patient eligibility is for up to one year. A $20 application processing fee
is required. Patients may reapply annually for Communicare services.
Helping hospitals
Communicare reduces costly emergency room visits by
offering an alternative for the working uninsured in search of
non-emergency care. In addition to keeping people out of the emergency
room, we help hospitals by providing donated pharmaceuticals to
patients who qualify for our program.
